The silenced rain protection cap has been realized to eliminate the
noise problem caused by the shaking of the plate on the tube (while
closing) and by the holder (while opening).
This silenced rain cap
has been conceived with the aim of achieving the highest mechanical
resistance against the stress caused by irregular exhaust gas flow.
It
is realized in carbon steel with bushings made of fiber glass reinforced
nylon and assembled with stainless steel rivets. The painting is done
with particular care in order to avoid rust, considering the frequent
exposure to bad weather. The rain cap is first degreased in a solvent
bath and then a phosphating is carried out.
By means of special
electrostatic equipments, the rain cap is coated with a uniform layer of
epoxy- polyester powder (50/60 micron thickness) which, through a
subsequent oven treatment, forms a film with superior mechanical
qualities and high resistance against the air and weather influences.
